    Product Details

    Hickinbotham Trueman Cabernet Sauvignon is made with a blend of grapes from vines planted in 1971 and 2002. Matured for 15 months in French oak, this wine is both bold and elegant. The nose opens with blackberries, dark chocolate, olive, fig, toast, black licorice, and boysenberry. On the palate, it’s full-bodied yet beautifully balanced, with notes of cassis, dark chocolate, and tobacco, fine chalky tannins, and bright acidity.

    The vineyard sits high in the hills of Clarendon, at the northern end of McLaren Vale, South Australia. First planted in 1971, the vineyard rises above the valley floor on ancient soils derived from the roughly 750-million-year-old Belair Subgroup. These lean, weathered soils of siltstone, quartz, and sandstone make the vines work hard for every drop of water. The vines then reward with small, intensely concentrated berries packed with flavour and minerality not found anywhere else. The farming at Hickinbotham is simple - minimal intervention and maximum respect for the land.
