    Inspired by the pearl‑breasted swallows that return each year to nest in the cellar, The Swallow is Natte Valleij’s exploratory red blend and a flexible expression of Cape Rhône varieties. Typically led by Syrah and supported by components such as Cinsault and other complementary grapes, the wine opens with savoury aromas of black cherry, plum, pepper, and dried herbs, layered with subtle smoke and earthy spice. The palate is dry and medium to full bodied, showing supple tannins, balanced acidity, and a core of dark and red fruit that carries through to a gently savoury finish. Approachable yet characterful, this is a versatile, food‑friendly red designed for the table rather than the cellar.
