Originally referenced in the year 1234 as the home of a local abbot named Gombaud de Lafite, the estate became a commercial winery after the Dutch drained the Medoc swamps in the 17th century, and vines were planted by Jacques de Ségur in 1680. The quality was instantly recognized around the world.
This timeless house has weathered Europe’s tumultuous history with grit and grace, becoming even more renowned in the last 20 years. This 2020 Lafite earned a hat trick of 3 100-point scores from Jeb Dunnuck, James Suckling and Wine Enthusiast, this is indeed a future classic in the making.
