The story began in 1996 when Senka Tennant discovered an abandoned vineyard and saw the potential of the region's distinctive desert terroir. Following the planting of the estate's first vineyards in 1996 with Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, Tennant crafted the inaugural 1999 vintage, creating a legacy that would bring collectors and wine lovers coming back each year for the next 25 years. Today, Black Hills is committed to organic farming and continuing to put BC on the map in the world of wine.
