Carménère has a captivating story of rediscovery and resurgence. Originally from Bordeaux, it found its true home in Chilean vineyards after phylloxera devastated its European roots in the 19th century. Flourishing in Chile's warm and dry climate, Carménère became the country's signature varietal. Its wines are distinguished by their deep ruby hue and a rich palate of blackberries, plums, and dark chocolate. One of the grape's hallmarks is a unique green pepper note, reflecting its pyrazine compounds. With age, Carménère wines can reveal layers of coffee, tobacco, and leather. The grape's moderate tannins and inviting fruitiness make it easily enjoyable, while its intriguing herbaceous undertones add depth and character. As Chile's emblematic grape, Carménère not only embodies the terroir of the Andean nation but also tells a tale of heritage and revival in every glass.
