Tasting Notes

Raymond Napa Valley Generations Cabernet Sauvignon is a striking dark ruby color in the glass and opens with intriguing aromas of blackberry and mocha that are interlaced with coffee and mineral notes. This is a classically dry wine that displays flavors of blackberry and both red and black currants that are enhanced by a touch of black cherry, ripe tannins and a long, lingering finish. Enjoy this wine over the next 5 to 10 years.

About This Wine

By blending grapes from the St. Helena and Oakville appellations, we are able to make a wine that truly represents the best of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and honors our five generation history of making wine in the Napa Valley.

Grapes were fermented on the skins for 30-38 days to lend complexity and depth to the wine before being racked to new, tight-grained, medium and medium plus toast French oak barrels for 18-20 months of aging. Only our best barrels from forests in Nevers, Allier and the Center of France were selected for this blend of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

98 POINTS! Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 2015 Vintage

"The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Generations is deep garnet-purple in color with an earthy, dried herbs and scorched earth-scented nose over a core of blackberry pie and cassis with Indian spices and menthol. Full-bodied, concentrated and rich in the mouth, with firm, grainy tannins and a savory/earthy character, it finishes long with a mineral hint."

97 POINTS! Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 2014 Vintage

"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Generations tends to be a mix of four vineyards, two in St. Helena, one in Oakville and one in east Napa. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and was bottled unfined and unfiltered, after spending 19 months in 60% new French oak. Production is a modest 1,600+ cases. A brilliant wine from Boisset, it exhibits notes of blackberry and cassis, truffle, chocolate and spice bow. Layered and multidimensional with terrific opulence and purity, this is a “wow” wine, and while drinkable now, capable of evolving for 20 or more years."

95 POINTS! Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 2013 Vintage

"Dark ruby in the glass, our 2013 Generations Cabernet Sauvignon opens with alluring aromas of blackberry and boysenberry with subtle notes of vanilla and toasted oak. This velvety, dense wine offers flavors of raspberry, cassis and marionberry with a touch of rich mocha and subtle spice with a beautifully long finish. Well balanced with a full-bodied mouthfeel and intense flavors, enjoy this wine now or allow it to age for the next 25-30 years."
