  • Wines of Italy

    A Taste of Italy with Teresa Chiesa

    Join Teresa today as she pours three Italian wines;

    Mezza di Mezzacorona is a new Sparkling wine from Italy. This versatile bubbly boasts a palate-friendly flavor profile that is perfect for summer.

    Teresa will also open the Tommasi Pinot Grigio which is straw colour; green apple and mineral aromas; light to medium bodied; apple, citrus flavours and it has a mouth watering acidity.

    You can also try Poggio Al Tufo which is is a blend of 60% sangiovese and 40% cabernet sauvignon that is aged one year in Slavonian oak, this imparts a fine dusty cedary scent. The fruit is classic Tuscan sour cherry/currant, with some grassy character. It is medium weight, fairly dense, firm and drying with considerable tannin and cabernet graphite on the finish. The length is very good.

    Join Vito today as he pours three Italian wines;

    Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Superiore is made from the dried grapes used for the production of Amarone. Immediately after fermentation, the best selection of Valpolicella is ""re-cooked"", to start a second fermentation that enriches the alcoholic content, color and extracts an aromatic bouquet. The Ripassa is one of the most significant wines that is produced by Zenato.

    Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC is a Zenato classic. This wine is produced from the most classic and autochthonous grapes: 85% Corvina, 10% Rondinella, 5% Corvinone. This wine is ready for immediate drinking and releases delicate aromas reminiscent of almonds and violet. On the palate it has a dry, soft taste with a good structure. You can age this wine for a few years.

    Freschello White Blend is light and 'Fresch'! A delicately flavoured blend of Garganega and Trebbiano. Subtle floral aromas with flavours of tropical fruit on the palate and a hint of sweetness on the finish, fantastic entertaining wine. The Freschello Red Blend is also light and 'Fresch'! A light and fruity blend of Merlot and Raboso, a native Italian grape variety. Juicy red fruit flavours with hints of steeped black tea and a touch of sweetness on the finish.

Serve chilled. Roscato Rosso Dolce, has intense aromas of blackberries and ripe wild berries. It is fresh, lively and frizzante with a soft lingering finish.

    Perseus Pinot Grigio has intense aromas of pear, yellow apple and classic musk and spice notes of the varietal. The palate is broad with rich mouth feel and crisp, citrus infused acidity. Works well with white meats, shellfish dishes or simply served on its own. The Perseus Rosé is a beautiful dry wine which is 100% Old Vine Pinot Noir from the sunrise Vineyard in West Kelowna. This wine exudes summer fun with its cranberry and floral aromas, fruit salad and spice flavours, coupled with zippy acidity and a long, dry finish. The Perseus Cabernet Merlot Blend is a rich, but medium bodied red wine that is made to drink immediately and over the next 5 years. Look for notes of black cherry, blackberry, and plum with hints of wild sage, earth notes, and a spicy finish.

    A rosé (from French rosé; also known as rosado in Portuguese and Spanish-speaking countries and rosato in Italy) is a type of wine that incorporates some of the color from the grape skins, but not enough to qualify it as a red wine. Ombre Rosé has delicate floral aromas with notes of red berries. The palate is fresh with flavours of pink grapefruit and strawberry. The finish is soft and smooth, making it the perfect summer sipper. Elephant Rosé, from Luberon is a delicious French Rosé that has a beautiful pale pink colour. It has bright floral aromas with notes of strawberry and grapefruit on the palate. A light, fruity Rosé that pairs perfectly with sunshine!

    Established in 2012 in Cawston, the heart of Similkameen Wine Country, Twisted Hills Craft Cider is the first stand alone cidery in the Similkameen Valley. They are unique in that they grow organic apple varieties specifically for the use of cider. They believe that the quality of cider will never surpass the quality of the apples used to make it. The varieties that they grow include a number of cider specific varieties which are higher in tannin and acidity which enables us to produce a very diverse and well-balanced array of organic ciders.

    Spier Chenin Blanc tasting notes say it is, pale gold colour with fresh lime green flashes around the edge. Tastes of green-apple, ripe white-fleshed nectarine. Fresh, zippy, ripe fruited, sliced pear, undertow of honey with a limesquirt ending. The tasting notes for the Pinotage read, clear bright purple red. Typical red fruits of the Pinot Noir parent are raspberries, and cranberry. Red fruited with plum skin acidity. Round, with soft tannins, and Turkish delight undertow on the aftertaste.

    Join Rob Esktrom, who represents Virgil Vineyards, today as he pours wines for this Australian Winery. He will open the Hunter Valley Chardonnay which is an exotic wine with an intense tropical fruit lift on the nose, with some oak and buttery characters and a fresh acidity! You will find the Shiraz intense and concentrated dark plumb and berry aromas. Berry fruit carries through to palette with good length and balance, some subtle spice characters add a fine elegance to the overall structure of the wine. Served best with: Beef, lamb, game, tuna, salmon, spicy mexican and cajun.
