Chateau Haut Brisson Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2015 Red Blend 750 mL

"An elegant, restrained Emillon with a medium body and good aging potential. Leathery raisins swirl around the nose with strawberries and sweet oak, creamy palate and lively finish. As such I was surprised to learn that winemaking consultant/arsonist Michel Rolland (Masseto, Oculus, Pedestal, land mines, booster rockets, etc.) was involved in this, the style is far more graceful than what he’s known for. Gorgeous and inviting, 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc" - Jordan Carrier, Everything Wine Vintage room consultant

  • A soft, immediately approachable classic Saint-Emilion. Notes of raspberries, strawberries, plums, balanced with gentle acidity and rounded off with sweet fine-grained oak. A perfect wine to drink with a special dinner.
  • For a typical pairing, try with duck confit or a game bird like squab with bacon and figs.
  • This lovely chateau sits in the appellation of Saint Emilion, on the Right Bank of the Gironde Estuary in Bordeaux. Admired as a highly consistent estate and delightfully drinkable wines that age with grace.
  • This wine comes from a 100% organic and biodynamic winery from the right bank, meaning it is predominantly Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc being the secondary grapes. These vines are on average 30 years in age, and planted on mostly sandy soils. After these grapes are hand picks and sorted they are conveyed in truncated vats where they will ferment for 10 to 20 days. After the fermentation period, the wine is transferred to new French oak barrels for 15-18 months.
  • 93 POINTS! James Suckling, 2017 Vintage

"This shows a tightness and firmness that is unique for this estate with dark-berry and white-pepper character. Full-bodied, compacted and polished. Very long and polished. This came from only the vineyards on top of St.-Emilion. 50% of normal production. Barrel Sample: 92-93"

95 POINTS! James Suckling, 2016 Vintage

"Soft and velvety wine with blackberry, blueberry and raspberry character. Full body, a dense center palate and a long and pure finish. Another winner. Barrel Sample: 94-95 Points"

95 POINTS! James Suckling, 2015 Vintage

"This is the best Haut-Brisson ever showing ripe dark plums and chocolate on the nose, which is so seductive. The palate is all about the silky tannins and beautiful fruit. Full body, gorgeous fruit and a complex aftertaste. So precise and impressive. Texturally complete. Drink or hold."

92 POINTS! James Suckling, 2014 Vintage

"Quite a mellow and traditional-style St.-Émilion, but in the positive sense. A solid tannic base supports the moderately rich body, and the tannins are quite sophisticated on the dry finish."
