  2. Bodega Catena Zapata White Bones Chardonnay 2014
    Argentina

Bodega Catena Zapata White Bones Chardonnay 750 mL

Bodega Catena Zapata White Bones Chardonnay 2014 . Catena’s Adrianna vineyard is almost totally devoted to red, except for a few rows here and there where they make enough Chardonnay for about 2000 bottles, each of which are extraordinary. Almost unreasonably aromatic and expressive, with bright pineapple, ripped mint leaves and guava nearly clawing their way out of the glass at you. The body is full but fresh, those looking for butter won’t find Nirvana here, but Burgundy lovers will; the tense, lively finish goes on for whole minutes and transcends expectations and, frankly, descriptions. My words don’t serve this wine well, none do, we don’t have them yet, you need to try it. 95 points Robert Parker, MW Tim Atkin’s WHITE WINE OF THE YEAR.

  5. Joseph Phelps Vineyards Insignia
    USA

Joseph Phelps Insignia 2014 Red Blend 750 mL

"Joseph Phelps Insignia 2014, Napa Valley. One of Napa’s Crown Princes, from the middle of the region’s golden streak of vintages, ironically elevated by the long drought. I had the opportunity to taste this vintage alongside the previous 2013, and the differences are slight but noticeable. The ’13 has a more friendly fruit weight but the ’14 is structured, dense and timeless, perhaps due to the rare omission of Merlot in that year’s blend. As close as Insignia has come to the “classic Napa” style in some time, with chocolate and coffee notes bracing the “Night Of A Thousand Berries” nose that is so characteristically Phelps. 2014 is Motorhead compared with 2013’s Elton John, focused and hardcore, not really caring what you think of it… yet. Another Insignia for the ages" As described by our vintage room expert, Jordan Carrier.
